DHA Power & Desalination Plant – Karachi

For DHA’s plans to install a combined power and desalination plant (CPDP) in one of its residential/commercial sectors of Phase VIII, an independent company, DHA Cogen Ltd., was established. DHA’s estimated requirement of potable water was 7.5 mgd. KWSB only sanctioned 4.5 mgd. The source for providing the remaining 3 mgd is this CPDP. For this purpose, a power plant of 94 MW was established to run the desalination plant. All surplus power is being sold to KESC.

The main components are: one gas turbine; one dual capacity heat recovery steam generator; one steam turbine; and two desalination plants.
